Products We Will Always be Repurchasing

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

In the world of beauty and makeup it is very easy to lose track of yourself and end up in a pool of products you never thought you needed but bought to try and test for the sake of it. However, no matter how many new and improved items that come out every single day, everyone has a select few products they will always repurchase even if there are a hundred new and more sparkly versions created in the meantime. It’s hard to turn your back on a firm favourite that has seen you through every makeup phase and never ever let you down.

In this blog post we have listed just but a few of the items we have recently repurchased or plan to repurchase very soon.

First up is the luxurious Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. This mascara is not only beautifully packaged but it is so black and bold it never fails to make a stunning statement. The thick brush is slightly dipped in the center and grasps every lash every single time coating them all with a thick but smooth application which adds so much volume and length you could never want any other product.

Once you have tried this product you would struggle to ever go back to anything else. It really is something we will forever repurchase and aim to never run out of.

Next up is the Mac Pro Long Wear Concealer which is super high coverage. This concealer is lightweight but also quite rich. It’s super blendable with a buildable medium to full coverage and is perfect for weddings and occasions where you need the concealer to last and cover as much as possible for as long as possible. It is available in cool and warm tones as per with mac products so it is perfect for all skin tones and types. LOVE.

Highlighters are one of those things that really depend on how dazzling you like to be. Whether you like a shimmer or a subtler sheen the Mary Lou Manizer by The Balm is and will always tick all the boxes for us. It is a beautiful champagne shimmer shade, that is so pigmented you barely have to use any so it will be very seldom if ever that you will even need to buy a new one. (Although as a compact powder they do shatter when dropped and therefore require a repurchase).

Finally, a liquid lipstick love story. There are so many brands and cosmetic lines of various liquid lipsticks to choose from right now but finding one with a comfortable wear and lasting pigment is another story. One that we found and fell in love with is the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick in Craft. This deep fuscia shade has a gorgeous purple undertone, but more importantly it lasts all day without drying out the lips. Winning.

This is just a few of the many things we wouldn’t dare live without. Let us know some of your go to products in the comments. We’d love to know what your favourites are and what are really worth the buy.

Beauty Blender is it the be all and end all?

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

The Beautyblender took the beauty world by storm and is now a cult favourite among a lot of blogs and beauty gurus, so naturally we have been dying to try it out and figure whether or not it is worth the hype.

Well we did, and in our opinion it was definitely worth the excitement.

We decided to jump right in and used the sponge wet as many bloggers have demonstrated to do so, which completely transforms the application process in our opinion. Instead of using a stiff sponge that absorbs more product than it applies, this damp sponge doubles in size and becomes a bouncy, flexible blender that completely smooths out all foundations and cream products seamlessly and naturally. It doesn’t leave any streaks or obvious makeup blotches, but instead presses the product into the skin flawlessly.

The finish is very natural and dewy due to the dampness of the blender, which looks very natural and smooth to touch, a finish hard to achieve using a brush at times.

Alternatively, the sponge can be used with powders, damp or dry.

TOP TIP- if you are a fan of ‘baking’ your makeup with translucent powders, this can also be achieved effortlessly with a damp or dry Beautyblender depending on which method you prefer yourself.

It’s safe to say the Beautyblender has catapulted its way right up to the top of our makeup bag.

Created by top Hollywood makeup artists it was made to perfect and simplify makeup application without the need of numerous different brushes and tools, which is always a plus.

The original beautyblender has a round egg shape bottom with a sharp end at the other side to get into those smaller areas, that can sometimes be hard to touch. It is latex and odour free and non-allergenic so it suitable for all skin types.

It’s now available to buy in Ireland in boots stores or online makeup sites such as beautybay.com, retailing for about €20.

Like every innovative new tool, there were many other replicas made by various other makeup brands and companies to try and achieve a similar product. They all vary with slightly different shapes and materials. Many of these other versions come much cheaper and can be found on the high-street and in pharmacies nationwide such as the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge which is very similar but a fraction of the price. It retails at about €5 and is as close to the real deal that we have found.

It has a flat edge at on end which is very useful for patting down flatter areas or alternatively works perfectly for baking. If you are not willing to splash out on the Original blender, or would prefer to try a cheaper alternative to begin with, this is a definite dupe.

So, after endless excitement and massive hype, this is a product we are delighted we tried and tested. Have you tried it. Did you like it, do you use it damp or dry, or do you simply prefer to stick with brushes?

We’d love to know how you feel about it or your experience with other dupes out there too.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

The Nars Sheer Glow foundation is a cult classic. We have talked a lot of products that give a radiant finish and create an inner glow and this product slots perfectly into that category. It comes in a wide range of shades and tones to suit all skin colours and has a medium to buildable coverage, perfect for every occasion. The silky consistency feels comfortable to wear and blends out beautifully. While the name may say sheer, it can be worked to create a fuller coverage if you prefer, while still maintaining a healthy natural glow. TOP TIP: A damp beauty blender will work to emphasis this dewy finish, however if you prefer matte look just set it all down with a translucent powder.

Benefit Gimme Brow

Gimme Brow has been around for quite a while but it has made its way back into our favourites recently, especially now since the more natural eyebrow look is back on trend. Its tiny applicator is the perfect size to brush through the brows quickly and effortlessly without straying too far outside the lines. It is quite pigmented so, you can easily get away with using this alone to create a full and natural brow that has just been slightly tamed and tinted. Equally as easy, it could be used on top of whatever brow product you prefer to use to add some more volume while setting them in place.

Blank Canvas Master Series Palette One

This stunning palette consists of 12 neutral shades consisting mainly of warm matte shades and one buttery champagne cream shade which highlight the brow bone and inner corner of the eye perfectly. We’ve been loving it to create simple every day looks, especially using the first row of lighter brown shades. Using the bottom row of deeper and darker browns you can amp it up and create a beautiful matte Smokey eye, perfect for this time of year.

And to top it all off the Master Palette comes with the E40/41 Double Ended Tapered Crease Blender/ Smudger brush. What’s not to love.
