Whether this a first date, or your fiftieth, date night is an excuse to get completely dolled up. And let’s face it we don’t need much convincing to up our makeup game. Whether you are planning a romantic night out or a more relaxed date night in we’ve put together our best tips to make sure you look, and feel, your very best.
- Keep the Base Light
You want to look like yourself, and in very general terms, a more natural look is perceived as more sexy. You don’t want to look like you’re going clubbing with your friends, and more importantly you don’t want to run the risk of your foundation transferring onto everything your face may come into contact with! Keep the base light and you can afford to play up other features.
- Opt for a Nude Lip
Going for a nude lip is a good idea for obvious reasons. And if a little smooch is definitely off the radar for your evening, it’s still advisable to opt for a more natural hue to lower the risk of smearing it while eating or a lipstick on teeth incident. On the same note, it’s better to go for a lipstick or stain rather than a gloss. Stickiness is another unnecessary obstacle that you don’t need. And don’t forget to prep your pout beforehand with a lip scrub!
- Play up your Eyes
So after all that ‘keeping it simple’ advice the fun can finally begin. Red and pink are the colours of the evening and since you’re playing it safe with the lips why not try bring the hues into your eye makeup? Don’t panic we aren’t suggesting a full on pink eye look, instead try a smokey cranberry shadow. Warm red-toned cranberries will really make blue eyes pop, while cooler purples will look better on brown eyes.
- Don’t forget the Manicure
Your nails will be in full view on the evening if you are planning a romantic meal. Bring in the festivities with your nail art by adding little hearts, or opt for the more classic option of fire engine red. And who knows your nails could be getting even more attention than expected, an unexpected engagement might even be on the cards!
- Spritz your Favourite Perfume
An important beauty step that’s often forgotten is putting on perfume. We are big fans of Jo Malone in the studio. It’s pricey but definitely worth it. Our choice for a sexy date night scent would be Pomegranate Noir, or Lime, Basil and Mandarin for a lighter more fresh choice.
